The American Lung Association (ALA)
The American Lung Association®
was founded in 1906 as part of the first nationwide corps of volunteers organized
to combat a single disease: tuberculosis. Today they are working to make the world
a better place to breathe. Their goals include reducing tobacco use, especially
among young people; preventing and controlling air pollution; and providing education
and funding research to make life more comfortable for people with asthma or other
lung disease...their motto is, "Improving life, one breath at a time"
